Nightwish

Nightwish, their first demo Nightwish was conceived by keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen after spending a night around a campfire with friends in July 1996. Holopainen recruited guitarist Erno “Emppu” Vuorinen and vocalist Tarja Turunen to the project, who were attending the same school in Finland. Based on the musical experimentations of Holopainen, the original band concept was to create acoustic music much like the music played around campfires (they, occasionally, still compose songs in this genre, such as The Islander).
