Ondrasik's first album Message for Albert was released by EMI in 1997.
In 1999, Five For Fighting signed with Aware/Columbia Records and released America Town on September 26, 2000 featuring the hit single “Superman .” Ondrasik performed the song at The Concert for New York City in October of 2001, and America Town hit platinum status in sales.
