Dave Barnes

The oldest of three children, Dave Barnes was born in South Carolina in 1978. He is the son of a Presbyterian pastor who relocated his family to Kosciusko, Mississippi, just as Dave turned six years old. After ten years in Mississippi, the Barnes family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee the summer before Dave's junior year in high school.Though Dave was a percussionist in his high school bands, he eventually began writing songs in addition to playing drums. While at Farragut High School, he wrote songs for a local Christian rock band Fishers of Men.
