The daughter of Italian and German parents, Sciubba was born in Rome and grew up in Munich and Nice. Growing up, she learned to speak German, Spanish, French, Italian and English, languages which she regularly incorporates into her songs (all five languages are featured on their debut album). Sciubba recorded two jazz albums - You Don't Know What Love Is with pianist Chris Anderson and Meet Me in London with guitarist Antonio Forcione. The band itself formed in 2003, while jamming at a New York club.
