Augustana's debut album, Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays was released in 2003 and only 1000 copies were produced. After band members Dan Layus, Josiah Rosen, and Jared Palomar had formed Augustana in Greenville, Illinois[2], they moved to southern California where they found their drummer, Justin South. Augustana were then soon discovered by Grammy-Award winning record producer, Stephen Short, who became their manager and helped get them signed to Epic Records as well as a publishing deal with EMI.
